Lady Eagles Downed by Lady of the Lake

Turnovers Lead to 96-58 Loss

This year’s Rhema Lady Eagles are young as a team—and this has shown in their first two games of the season. As could be expected from a team with only one senior, three sophomores, and four freshmen, turnovers are an issue that Lady Eagles’ Head Coach Kerri Sharp and her squad have to address. Rhema turned the ball over 36 times in a 96-58 loss to the Lady of the Lake Lady Saints to fall to 0-2 on the season.

A bright spot for the Lady Eagles in the contest was their ability to crash the boards, outrebounding the Lady Saints 38-33. Freshman Vanessa Zailo snatched down a game-high 16 boards for Rhema, and has 29 rebounds in her first two games.

The Lady Eagles were led by sophomore Candace Tripke who poured in a team-high 18 points and grabbed three rebounds. Freshman Jamie Davis had a solid game with 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Kori Jones contributed 10 points and three rebounds, while Keirstyn Spangler added nine points and six rebounds.

Jeff Bardel moved from North Carolina to attend RHEMA Bible Training Center in 2002. While he was a student, he competed for the RHEMA Eagles on the links and also served as the team captain.

Meet Coach Sherrill

David Sherrill, Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach

Sherill David earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from East Carolina University. He worked for the U.S. departments of State and the Treasury and BAE Systems before coming to RHEMA in the fall of 2010.
