Eagles Lose Hard-Fought Contest to Oklahoma Wesleyan PDF Print E-mail

Saturday night’s contest between the Rhema Eagles and Oklahoma Wesleyan was a hard-fought contest from the opening tip. OWU held a narrow five-point halftime lead, but stretched it to 21 midway through the second half. Rhema made a valiant run to narrow the deficit to 10 with four minutes remaining, but ran out of gas, falling 85-73.

 

Rhema was outscored by 13 (23-10) from the free-throw line, as Oklahoma Wesleyan made more free throws (23) than Rhema attempted (20). OWU converted 23-of-32 free-throw attempts (72 percent) while Rhema connected on only 10-of-20 (50 percent).

Freshman guard Rico Hereford led the Eagles with a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from behind the arc. Fellow guard Brody Christian added 14 points, while Rhema’s leading scorer, Parris Hoskins, was held to 10. Sophomore center Josh White finished with seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Perry Shockley graduated from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society.
