Rhema Gaining Experience Against Stiff Competition

Each year the Rhema Eagles play a daunting schedule, and this season is no different. In their first 10 games, the Eagles have squared off against three NCAA Division II schools and oneNAIA school, preparing themselves for an ACCA National Championship tournament run in March.

Thursday night, Rhema faced NCAA Division II Texas A&M International University, falling 84-33 in Laredo, Texas. The Eagles (2-8) were hanging close in the first half, trailing 20-11 before TAMI (7-3) ended the half on a 21-1 run to hold a 41-12 halftime advantage. Rhema was unable to narrow the deficit, and was outscored 43-21 in the closing half to account for the final.

Kasey Byrd led the Eagles with seven points and three rebounds. Rico Hereford had six points and four rebounds, while Brody Christian contributed five points and two assists. Josh White finished with a team-high six rebounds.

Rhema returns to action today in a rematch with Texas A&M International. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
