lady eaglesFall to 4-8 for the Year

In Saturday night’s contest versus Oklahoma Wesleyan University, the Rhema Lady Eagles dug themselves a deep hole in the first half, falling behind by 16. Rhema wasn’t able to make a run in the second half and fell by a score of 74-59 in Bartlesville.

One of the strengths of the Lady Eagles this season has been rebounding. Even against bigger schools and taller players, Rhema has held its own on the boards. But that wasn’t the case Saturday night as OWU more than doubled Rhema in rebounds (56-23). Vanessa Zailo, who was averaging 16.6 rebounds entering the contest, was limited to only four, her first game as a Lady Eagle with less than 11 rebounds. One bright spot for the Lady Eagles was that they only committed 15 turnovers, their second lowest total of the year.

Rhema’s freshman guard Jamie Davis had a team-high 25 points and a game-high 10 steals for the first double-double of her career. Sophomore center Candace Tripke scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Zailo added six points, two assists, and two steals to her four rebounds.
